PATTERN · INDICATOR — ON CANDLE CLOSE
ATR Spike
Volatility jumps above normal
FIRES WHEN
Fires when ATR reaches N× its rolling average — volatility just spiked.
ATR is the average size of recent bars — the stock’s normal breathing. When the latest ATR reaches multiples of its own average, volatility has just spiked: something changed.
HOW TRADERS READ IT
Spikes cluster around news, unlocks and forced flows. Traders use the alert two ways: as a risk signal to widen stops or cut size, and as a scanner for where action just started. Replay the spike bar — the book usually shows who panicked first.
SETTINGS
| Setting | What it does | e.g. |
|---|---|---|
| Timeframe | Candle timeframe the indicator is computed on | 1m / 5m / 15m / 1h / 4h / 1d |
| Period | Number of bars in the calculation | 14 |
| Multiplier (N×) | ATR must reach this many times its average | 2 |
A 2× multiplier flags genuine regime breaks; 1.5× behaves more like an activity scanner.
THE ALERT
Every alert lands in Telegram with a Replay link that opens the book at the exact firing moment.
