Book Imbalance
One side out-sizes the other
FIRES WHEN
Fires when your side’s total depth exceeds N× the opposite side — pressure building in one direction.
Imbalance compares total depth on your side against the other. When bids out-size offers by multiples, the book is leaning — pressure is building in one direction before price moves.
HOW TRADERS READ IT
Persistent imbalance often precedes drift in its direction; sudden imbalance around a level marks a fight. Beware the fake lean — size that appears on the bid to paint strength and pulls on approach. The Replay timeline makes persistent-versus-flash obvious at a glance.
SETTINGS
| Setting | What it does | e.g. |
|---|---|---|
| Side | Which half of the book this pattern watches | BID / OFFER |
| Multiplier (N×) | Your side must be this many times the other | 2 |
| Depth | Average over the top 5 or top 10 levels | 5 / 10 |
A 2× multiplier flags a meaningful lean; 3×+ only fires on lopsided books worth interrupting your day for.
THE ALERT
